Scan to pay is a very easy and fast way to pay for goods or services, it can be used in most of the popular retail outlets in South Africa. This is a guide on how to use Capitec scan to pay.

Using QR codes to pay online or anywhere is becoming a very popular concept today. All you have to do is hold your camera and scan the code and an automatic payment is made. QR codes are way safer and convenient than other traditional forms of transacting money.

They’re are so popular that even apps like WhatsApp allow you to login to the web version only using a QR code. The first thing you have to do is to tell the cashier that you want to pay using a QR code. Then proceed to open your Capitec app.

Login to your remote banking app

You will need to have the Capitec remote banking app in order to use Scan to Pay. Login to your remote banking app, then click on the transact tab at the bottom of the screen. The transact tab is contains options for buying electricity, checking debit orders and transferring money.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Scan to Pay, it will require you to accept some terms and conditions. This part can be very frustrating because at first it seemed like the app has some bugs, I couldn’t proceed after clicking on “accept” it would take me straight to the homepage.

Give the app permission to access your camera and click on scan, while holding it over the QR code. Enter the amount and you are all set. It’s that quick and easy, a very damaged camera might have a hard time with scanning QR codes in general.
