Getting a proof of payment from the Capitec Banking app can be very confusing. More so because the app doesn’t allow you to do a screenshot. This is a guide on how to get a proof of payment from your Capitec app.
The Capitec app is very intuitive and easy to use but this is one area where they didn’t put a lot of effort. Knowing where and how to get the proof of payment is very difficult because you can’t really get it from the provided tabs. It can get frustrating after you have clicked all the menu options and every tab and still not have the proof of payment.
How to get the proof of payment
Turns out that Capitec Bank does have a way for you to get the proof of payment through the Capitec App. It is very easy to use once you figure it out but the downside is that it is not placed in an intuitive position.
Other banks allow you to get and send the proof of payment immediately after your transaction. It is placed in an intuitive position that makes it harder for you to miss. It’s important to note that you only have an option to get the proof of payment while you are still making a payment.
Login to your remote banking app
Login to your remote banking app and navigate to the “pay beneficiary” section. Enter the details of the person you want to send money to. This will take you to the page where you will get to insert the amount of money you want to send.
On that page, enter the amount of money you want to send and scroll down, right before the “Pay” button. There is a “payment notification” section and it’s set to “none” by default. This is where you get to send your proof of payment.
You can either send the proof of payment by SMS or Email. It will require you to enter the email address that you want to send the payment notification to. Enter your own email address if you just want to view the proof of payment.
The proof of payment will be sent directly to your email address in a PDF format. You can download it and send it to the person you want to show the proof of payment. I personally think that Capitec should change the “Payment notification” wording to “Proof of payment”. That way it won’t be easy for people to miss it.

I have scrolled down to Payment notification and when I put my email or receiver email address it refuses to take it. What do I do now ??

Also mine doesn’t take email address, on other banks apps such as ABSA it allows to take email addresses. Capitec should improve on that.
