Checking your Capitec balance without airtime is really easy, all you have to do is to make sure that you have adequate network signal. This won’t work if you are in a village with no network at all, you need to have network.
If you live in a village with no coverage for your network then its best to ask someone to do a mobile hotspot for you. All you have to do is to turn on your mobile data and proceed to open the Capitec app like you normally would.
Enter your remote banking pin, the remote banking PIN is not the same as the PIN that you use when withdrawing at the ATM or swiping at retail outlets. The app works just fine without mobile data, all that’s needed is for you to turn the mobile data on.
This is available on the new remote banking app from Capitec, I am not sure if it works on the old one. The new app has the words “new” on the Icon and makes it easier to activate without going to the bank.
