You can open the account directly from the official TymeBank website. The signup process is so easy, I have never had a simpler signup process before. All they want is your name, surname, id number and phone number. You don’t have to send any proof of anything, you can just type out your physical address and that’s it.
I tried opening the TymeBank account online and came across some problems, I constantly got an error when at the end of the signup process. I tried to do more research about this error but there is very little information about it.
Opening the account using a TymeBank machine
You can also open an account using a self-service TymeBank machine. It takes less than 10 minutes and it’s very intuitive to use. The only thing that’s needed is for you to know your ID number by head, you don’t even need to have the ID with you.
You will also have to register your fingerprints, which is also effortless and takes seconds. This is something you can do without receiving any assistance, but there are always ambassadors that are willing to assist you.
You should be able to get your new TymeBank debit card if everything goes well, sometimes the machine doesn’t work and you don’t get it. I didn’t get mine the first time. To find a TymeBank machine, you have to go to the kiosk at Pick n Pay or Boxer.
What do you need?
All you need to know is your South African ID and have your phone with you; where you will receive an OTP and confirm your phone number. Opening a TymeBank account is free and you don’t have to put any deposit when starting.
